Sophia Santiago has performed as a soprano soloist and pro choral artist across the New York Metropolitan Area. She appears frequently as a soloist with ensembles like the Mendelssohn Chorus of Philadelphia and Cincinatti Vocal Arts Ensemble.

Sophia received her bachelor’s degree at Westminster Choir College and completed her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance at Manhattan School of Music, studying with voice teacher Shirley Close. She won first place at the Spazio e Musica competition in Vicenza, Italy in 2022 and performed with early music ensemble I Musicalli Affetti. She was also a New York District Winner in the Laffont competition of 2022.

Recent engagements include the American Bach Soloist Academy, participating in the Hugo Wolf Liedduo Competition in Stuttgart, Germany, and performing with The Crossing.

As a part of Center City District’s Arts on Center Stage series; Soprano Sophia Santiago and colleagues will perform a selection of American and opera classics, accompanied by Michael Lewis on piano for an outdoor concert in the shadow of City Hall organized by Opera Philadelphia. This concert is free an open to the public!

The Bach choir of bethlehem

Bach at noon

July’s Bach at Noon features music important local Pennsylvania Moravian histories. Members of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem join with the local Moravian ensemble Unitas to perform J.F. Peter’s jubilant Freudenpsalm, composed in 1783 to celebrate the end of the Revolutionary War. Sophia Santiago joins a quintet of soloists for this unique recording of J.F. Peter’s Freudenpsalm.

J.S. Bach: Master of Instruments and Voice

The West Jersey Chamber Orchestra joins featured soloist Sophia Santiago in one of Bach’s most celebrated works, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen (BWV 51). This concert was presented in the acoustically rich sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown.
